A2.02. What scholarships / incentives exist for international students at the University of Évora?

The scholarships for International students aim to facilitate their access to the education offered by the University of Évora through the granting of a financial incentive, under the terms of art. 22 of the Academic Regulation.

The value of the incentive will be set by Rector's Office and will be, at most, equal to the difference between the international student's tuition fee and the tuition fee foreseen for national students. The value of the tuition fee to be paid by the incentive beneficiary will correspond to the amount of the tuition fee due after subtracting the value of the incentive.

COOPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIP

In the year of admission everyone is entitled to the scholarship, which will be awarded upon registration to the student who cumulatively has international student status PALOP nationality

In subsequent years, the Academic Services will determine the scholarship for all enrolled students who have international student status and who cumulatively:

  • Undergraduate or integrated master's students must obtain at least 42 ECTS from the study plan in the previous academic year, except in the first year of enrolment, when they need to obtain 30 ECTS, and:
  • Master's students must cumulatively:
  • obtain at least 42 ECTS from the study plan in the previous academic year (or 70% of ECTS if the number of ECTS missing to complete the Master's curriculum is less than 60 ECTS)
  • they must have an approved project if they have been enrolled in D/TP/E
  • the number of enrolments cannot exceed one year in relation to the normal duration of the course

  • Doctoral students, cumulatively:
  • must obtain approval for at least 70% of the ECTS of the UCs reviewed in the study plan in the previous academic year
  • must have an approved project if they were enrolled in Thesis or Thesis Project UC
  • the number of enrolments cannot exceed two years in relation to the normal duration of the course


MERIT SCHOLARSHIP:

In the year of admission, the scholarship is awarded at the time of enrolment to students who cumulatively:

- are covered by international student status
- if they have enrolled in a Bachelor's or Integrated Master's degree have a grade equal to or higher than the minimum merit grade for the 1st cycle and Integrated Master's degree defined annually by the rector's order, where C corresponds to: Grade (rounded to the nearest tenth) considered in the 1st cycle and MI ranking
- if you have enrolled in a Master's degree, you have a Bachelor's degree average (rounded to the nearest tenth) equal to or higher than the minimum merit grade, defined annually in a rector's order (if you did not submit a Bachelor's degree diploma with a final average and/or a statement of the scale with a minimum passing grade and maximum grade on that scale, other than 0-20, the Bachelor's degree average is considered to be 10)
- if you have enrolled in a doctoral programme, you have a grade (rounded to the nearest tenth): C = 0.60 x undergraduate degree average + 0.4 x master's degree average (if you do not have a master's degree, it will be 0.6 x bachelor's degree) equal to or higher than the minimum merit grade, defined annually by the rector's order(if you did not submit your bachelor's/master's degree with final average and/or grade scale statement with minimum passing grade and maximum grade on that scale, other than 0-20, the bachelor's/master's degree average is considered 10)


In subsequent years, the Academic Services will calculate the scholarship for all enrolled students who have international student status. The number of enrolments cannot exceed the duration of the course and cumulatively:

  • undergraduate or Integrated Master's or Master's students:
- at least 60 ECTS credits earned in the previous year
- weighted average of the 60 ECTS credits equal to or higher than the merit grade for the study cycle, defined annually by the rector's order
- The sum of the product of the ECTS of the CU by the respective classification of the CU must be greater than or equal to the product of 60 by the merit grade of the study cycle

  • doctoral students
- in the case of doctorates with a study plan without a doctoral course:
- The classification (rounded to the nearest tenth): C = 0.60 x bachelor's degree average + 0.4 x master's degree average (if no master's degree, it will be 0.6 x bachelor's degree) equal to or higher than the minimum merit grade, defined annually by the rector's order
- have an approved thesis project
- have passed all the course units included in the study plan in the academic years in which they were enrolled
- in the case of doctorates with a doctoral course:
- have successfully completed all the course units included in the study plan in the academic years in which they were enrolled or all the course units of the doctoral course
- have a weighted average in these course units equal to or higher than the minimum merit grade, defined annually by the rector's office
- have a thesis project approved within the period specified in the study plan



In case of re-entry, the international student will have the right to a scholarship, which will be awarded upon registration, under the following conditions::

  • Merit scholarship in case the student in the last year that he was enrolled at UÉ has the conditions stated in artº 22º of the Academic Regulation of the University of Évora
  • Cooperation and development scholarship in the case of a student coming from a PALOP country and having successfully completed at least 48 ECTS in the last year he was enrolled at UÉ.
Scholarships for international students do not apply to students enrolled in association courses, pursuant to Article 22(2) of the Academic Regulations of the University of Évora.


The above information does not exempt students from consulting Article 22 of theAcademic Regulations of the University of Évora.


In accordance with article 26 of the Tuition Regulation:
  • The special schemes or other situations provided for in these regulations that allow for a reduction or exemption from the tuition fee are not cumulative, and the scheme that allows for the greatest reduction applies, unless expressly stated otherwise in a rectorial order.
  • Special schemes that lead to a reduction in tuition fees do not apply to students on scholarships, except for social support scholarships, or to students on a joint degree.
  • International students who are awarded scholarships under the Academic Regulations do not cumulatively apply the special schemes that lead to a reduction in tuition fees, and the most favorable option will apply.

International students are exempt from applying for a scholarship and the Academic Services will sort the eligible students. In the year of entry the attribution will be automatic at the moment of enrolment, in the subsequent years, it will be announced, in the SIIUE, in the 1st quarter of each academic year.

RESULTS OF SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED IN 2025/26, to students with international student status, enrolled on 13/11/2025 in the 2025/26 academic year and admitted in previous years:
- PhDs
- Master's degrees
-Undergraduate and Integrated Master's .
