A1.03. What is the PhD offer?
Last Updated 3 months ago

The University of Évora is the second oldest in Portugal and has a wide and comprehensive range of higher education courses. Its own history, closely linked to the history of the city of Évora, combines the values of tradition and teaching excellence.

Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage city, is located in the heart of the Alentejo and has a relaxed pace, where every corner is a place to discover, making it the right choice for students entering our University.

The University of Évora offers several PhDs(3rd cycle) lasting between 3 and 4 years, which confer a doctoral degree. Some doctorates include a curricular component (a doctoral course that includes a set of curricular units). The doctoral degree is awarded on successful defense of the thesis in public examinations and the curricular units if the doctoral study plan includes them. In addition to conferring a doctoral degree, if the doctorate includes a doctoral course with 30 or more ECTS, it also confers a diploma on completion of the curricular component (non-degree course).

You can consult the doctoral programs offered by the University of Évora on the official website and the opening notice for each one (conditions for access and admission, number of places, tuition fees, diplomas awarded and other information), as well as the respective Study Plan and the syllabus for each of the curricular units in the doctoral programs in which this is applicable.

Applications are made online at https://siiue.uevora.pt, by the deadlines stipulated in the Calendar of Applications for access and admission to the UÉ.

Consult our website at https://www.uevora.pt/en/study/applying-to-UE/doctoral-degreesfor all the information on the application process for doctoral programs.
