D6. How to attend a Portuguese language course for non-national students?
Last Updated about a month ago
The University of Évora offers students who do not have Portuguese nationality the opportunity to attend a Portuguese language course free of charge.
In order to attend this course in the even semester of 2024/25, which starts on February 17, 2025, a diagnostic test must be taken beforehand.
This is available from February 13, 2025, at: https://www.moodle.uevora.pt/2425/course/view.php?id=1889 (this address is also available in the student's profile on SIIUE).
To access the test, you must use the username and password you normally use to access the University's platforms.
Before the test, you must first answer the questionnaire and then take the diagnostic test. Once you have completed the test, you will be notified (to your UÉ student address and via SIIUE) about the course you will be taking (the level of Portuguese you will be enrolled in).
The time and place of operation for each language level UC will be as follows, and you must report to the room/time corresponding to the language level in which you have been admitted/enrolled:
Portuguese Language A1 (LLT13132O), Prof. Dr. Fernanda Gonçalves
Wednesday, 17:30-19:00 - classroom 296
Thursday, 16:00-17:30 - classroom 114
Portuguese Language A2 (LLT13133O), Prof. Dr. Maria João Marçalo
Monday, 17:00-18:30 - classroom 206
Tuesday, 16.00-17.30 - classroom 119
Portuguese Language B1 (LLT13134O), Prof. Dr. Maria Filomena Gonçalves
Tuesday, 14:00-15:30 - classroom 296
Wednesday, 14:00-15:30 - classroom 296
If you fail or miss a course at the language level in which you were enrolled, you can take the diagnostic test again in the following semester (within deadlines to be announced) so that you can be enrolled in the course corresponding to the result of the diagnostic test.
If you pass, you can also take the diagnostic test again in the following semester (by deadlines to be announced), so that you can be enrolled in a higher level course in accordance with the result of the diagnostic test.
Please note that if you are admitted as an international student to the 1st cycle and MI and are not proficient in Portuguese, it is compulsory to attend this course, under the terms of Decree-Law no. 36/2024, as currently republished, and article 53 of the University of Évora's Access and Admission Regulations.
As you were informed when you were admitted to the University of Évora, proficiency in the Portuguese language is a condition of access. As such, your admission and enrollment is subject to attending and passing, in the year of admission, the course unit (UC) corresponding to the language level determined in the diagnostic test. Passing this UC is compulsory in order to be able to renew enrollment in the following year, or to obtain any certification of any curricular act.”
