C1.10. How to regularize the stay in Portugal for Students without Portuguese nationality?
Last Updated 11 months ago
To regularize your stay in Portugal, you will have to carry out the following procedures: Within a maximum period of 90 days, you must request residence authorization with SEF, otherwise you will be in an irregular situation in the country and will have to pay a fine.
For long-term stays longer than three months, the requirements of current Portuguese legislation must be met. For specific information, contact SEF (Foreigners and Borders Service) - https://imigrante.sef.pt/en/
The request for granting a residence permit is made by online scheduling, as soon as you are going to travel or upon your arrival in Portugal, in SEF Online Services at www.sef.pt in the E-Balcão.
When contacting SEF, it is important to verify information about the documents to be presented on the scheduled day.
